On the last operating weekend at Six Flags Great America for 2024, Theme Park Tribune wanted to document the construction progress for Wrath of Rakshasa, the park’s new-for-2025 roller coaster.
Taking over a plot of land formerly occupied by the Buccaneer Battle attraction, the construction site has been cutting off the walkway between the County Fair and Hometown Square sections of the park during Fright Fest.

On the County Fair side, there was a clear view of the ongoing work from the edge of the food court.

No track had been installed yet for the 180-foot-tall, 3,239-foot-long dive coaster, which was designed by Swiss coaster firm Bolliger & Mabillard. Work has so far progressed to preparing to install footers.

According to the earlier trailer video released by Six Flags, the ride’s first drop will go over the walkway, with the first two inversions taking place near the entrance to Demon before crossing over the walkway again.
To get a look at the other side of the construction, we had to walk further back into the park through the Southwest Territory and past Viper.

Wrath of Rakshasa will be the 16th in Six Flags Great America’s lineup and the first new addition since 2019’s Maxx Force — ending the longest drought between new coasters in the park’s 48-year history. It’s also the park’s first addition under new corporate management following the merger of Six Flags and Cedar Fair, which was completed in July.
Six Flags Great America has not announced if Wrath of Rakshasa will be ready for the park’s season opening, which is generally the second-to-last weekend of April.
