SeaWorld San Antonio’s newest attraction will set records when it opens for passholders on Feb. 26.

The 105-foot-tall Tidal Surge is a “screamin’ swing” ride built by S&S – Sansei Technologies, with other installations including Finnegan’s Flyer at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and SKyhawk at Cedar Point. What sets Tidal Surge apart is its stats: riders will swing to a maximum height of 135 feet and hit speeds of 68 miles per hour.

“We’re excited to add another thrilling ride for our guests to enjoy,” Byron Surrett, SeaWorld San Antonio park president, said in a statement. “Tidal Surge will set records and bean exciting addition to our already impressive collection of rides that appeal to our guests who enjoy adrenaline pumping experiences.”

Passholders will get the first chance to ride Tidal Surge on Feb. 26 and 27. The public opening will follow on March 5.

The attraction is the first added to SeaWorld San Antonio since the opening of the Texas Stingray wooden coaster in February 2020. That was the only one of the new-for-2020 coasters in the SeaWorld chain that opened on time; the rest, including Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, ended up being delayed to 2022.
