Worlds of Fun is making fans wait a bit longer to ride its first new roller coaster in 14 years.

The first rides on Zambezi Zinger, a steel-and-wood hybrid coaster designed by Great Coasters International (GCI), were set to be given to season passholders on Thursday before a public grand opening on Friday. On Wednesday morning, however, the park announced on its social media channels that the opening would be delayed.

The coaster carries the name of a 1973 park original and replicates its spiral lift hill. The new Zambezi Zinger is 74 feet tall and 2,482 feet long and will hit a top speed of 45 miles per hour.

Worlds of Fun’s last new coaster was 2009’s Prowler, which was also built by GCI. Zambezi Zinger is the last of the three new roller coasters opening across the Cedar Fair chain this year, along with Wild Mouse at Cedar Point and Snoopy’s Racing Railway at Canada’s Wonderland.
