Catapult Falls, the first launched flume ride, will open on March 2 at SeaWorld San Antonio.

The attraction was originally supposed to debut in 2023, but was delayed last fall. Its new opening date will allow it to debut just as spring break crowds return to theme parks.

Along with the ride’s 20-mph launch, its special features include:

  • A 53-degree drop (which SeaWorld calls the steepest for any flume ride);
  • 55-feet maximum height
  • Top speed of 37 miles per hour on the splashdown
  • Only flume ride in North America with an elevator lift

SeaWorld San Antonio is marketing Catapult Falls as a “launched flume coaster,” log flumes are generally not considered to be roller coasters.

A passholder preview event for the new ride will be held ahead of the March 2 grand opening. SeaWorld said the exact dates for the preview will be announced soon.
