It’s a new dawn for Orlando Rising.
Since May 2018, I’ve been this site’s tourism reporter, covering everything that makes Orlando such a great vacation destination. I can now add site owner to my business card, as I’ve taken over Orlando Rising with the goal of publishing quality reporting on the theme park capital of the world, from the announcements of new attractions to in-depth analysis of the decisions happening around the world which may shape the future of Disney, Universal, Legoland and SeaWorld in Central Florida.
The next few years will bring some of the biggest changes to Orlando parks since Walt Disney looked down from his Gulfstream jet, saw a tract of virgin land near the under-construction I-4 and exclaimed, “This is it!”
All major theme parks in the region will add new attractions this year, showcasing everything from an immersive smuggler’s outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to that oh-so-familiar street which a big yellow bird calls home. Beyond that looms Disney World’s 50th anniversary, the promise of a new Universal theme park and the seemingly endless expansion of hotels, motels, vacation rentals and tourist traps.
Orlando Rising will be there to cover it all — not with the goal of giving the parks free promotion or praising their every move, but with a keen, journalistic eye that is too often missing from theme park coverage.
The Central Florida political coverage once featured on this site is still offered by our friends at FloridaPolitics.com. As for us, we have some exciting new ideas for being your top source for Orlando theme park news we’ll be sharing in the near future.
