With all of the lands and the opening date now revealed for Universal Orlando’s third theme park, Universal is offering closer looks at some of the major attractions you can experience next year.

Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment will be the star attraction of Dark Universe, the land themed around Universal’s classic movie monsters. In a Tuesday press release, Universal announced that the ride will have “feature 14 of the most ambitious and life-like animated figures ever created,” including depictions of Frankenstein’s Monster, Dracula, the Wolf Man, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Here’s how Universal described the attraction’s story:

Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment will take guests deep into the catacombs of Frankenstein Manor, where Dr. Victoria Frankenstein – the great-great-granddaughter of the infamous Henry Frankenstein – conducts her twisted and misguided experiments. In a vain display of her genius, she invites guests to witness a demonstration of her ability to control monsters – but her plans go awry when a horde of enraged monsters are unleashed. Guests then embark on a terrifying ride through the darkness as they try to evade Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Creature from the Black Lagoon and more.

The press also came with a promotional video showing off the range of motion for some of the new figures.

Monsters Unchained is expected to use the same industrial robotics technology first seen in Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Its one of the two rides in Dark Universe, alongside a spinning, family-oriented roller coaster called Curse of the Werewolf.

The attraction and Dark Universe open alongside the rest of Epic Universe on May 22, 2025. Single-day tickets for annual passholders have sold out through June 2, but for now, opening day remains available for guests purchasing multi-day Universal Orlando tickets and vacation packages.
