Universal Destinations & Experiences’ first expansion beyond its theme parks will bring Halloween Horror Nights-style scares to Las Vegas as part of a year-round attraction.

First announced in early 2023, Universal Horror Unleashed will open in Las Vegas in 2025. The experience will feature four haunted houses that Universal promises will be “intense and feature elevated moments where the horror surrounds guests in unimaginable ways.”

The four haunted houses will be:

  • The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
  • Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer
  • Scarecrow: The Reaping
  • Universal Monsters

For some perspective, four houses is similar to what was offered in some of the early years of Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights. The 1998 event was the first to hit five houses.

Beyond those houses, Universal says Horror Unleashed will offer “four sinisterly themed and immersive areas, featuring unique live entertainment experiences,” along with “eerie eateries and bars featuring horror-centric food and drink offering.”

Page Thompson, president of new ventures for Universal Destinations & Experiences, said in a statement: “Universal’s rich history in the creation of the horror genre drove our desire to bring a year-round horror experience to the incredible entertainment offerings in Las Vegas. We’re thrilled to have our award winning Creative and Entertainment teams working tirelessly to bring these terrors to life in 2025.”

The 2025 opening in Vegas is one of two expansions Universal is making into themed entertainment beyond its established theme parks in Orlando and Hollywood (soon to be joined by a third Orlando park, Epic Universe, due to open on May 22, 2025). In 2026, Universal is opening its first Kids Resort, a family-oriented park and hotel complex in Frisco, Texas.
