What was already Universal Orlando’s longest Mardi Gras event is getting another extension.
When originally announced, Mardi Gras was supposed to last until March 28. That end date was extended to April 11 and has now been pushed back once again, giving Universal guests a taste of Fat Tuesday all the way until May 2.
Universal said in a press release that the second extension was “due to continued popular demand.”
Unless the event is extended again, Mardi Gras will run for 86 days in 2021 at Universal Studios Florida — quite the expansion compared to the 50-night schedule in 2017.
After the 2020 edition was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Universal’s Mardi Gras was dramatically altered for 2021. Larger concerts were replaced by a much greater emphasis on food booths spread throughout the park. In addition, the traditional Mardi Gras parade has not been held, with parade floats instead standing stationary throughout the park for photo ops.
Mardi Gras festivities are included in regular admission to Universal Studios Florida. The park is also honoring any unused credits on food tasting lanyards left over from the pandemic-shortened 2020 event.
