You’ve got nine months to get your final ride on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida.
Universal Orlando itself confirmed the closure to media outlets and on social media Friday.
“Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit will close in early September 2025 to make way for a new experience. More details will be available at a later date,” Universal Orlando spokesperson Alyson Sologaistoa said in an emailed statement.

Universal’s confirmation came a day after Alicia Stella of Theme Park Stop broke the news about Rip Ride Rockit’s demolition based on recent water drainage permits. The permits, filed on Dec. 23, 2024, described a project to “remove existing attraction and replace with proposed attraction.”
While Rip Ride Rockit was not specifically mentioned in the documentation, the outline of the project encompasses all of the coaster’s current footprint, along with green space alongside the Hard Rock Cafe next to CityWalk and a backstage parking lot.
Having operated at Universal since 2009, Rip Ride Rockit has been the subject of lots of speculation about its future ever since its on-ride song choices — once its signature feature — were greatly reduced in August 2023.
Universal is not shy about replacing rides — only two of Universal Studios Florida’s opening day attractions from June 1990 remain in operation — but the only other coasters to be closed at the resort were the two sides of Dragon Challenge (originally Dueling Dragons), which shuttered in 2017.
