Universal Orlando will reveal Wizarding World creatures from the upcoming Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure every day this week. What better way to start than with a giant three-headed dog?
In “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” Fluffy was kept in a forbidden area on the third floor of Hogwarts Castle as one of the obstacles protecting the Stone. Harry, Hermione and Ron were able to sneak past by exploiting Fluffy’s one weakness: falling asleep to the sound of music.
Later comments by Wizarding World creator J.K. Rowling said that after the Stone was destroyed, Fluffy ran free for a time in the Forbidden Forest. That’s where guests will come across the gigantic beast.
“Proceed with caution – he’s a guard dog first and foremost. And in this new adventure, Fluffy weighs 8,000 Ibs., which is roughly as big as two standard Muggle cars,” Universal Orlando public relations coordinator Ashlynn Webb wrote in a blog post.
Long expected to be a part of the ride, the Fluffy animatronic shows how the new coaster differs from recent Universal additions that have been dominated by screens, like the maligned Fast & Furious: Supercharged.
Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opens on June 13 at Islands of Adventure, taking over the site once occupied by the dueling coaster known as both Dueling Dragons and Dragon Challenge. Universal plans on detailing a new creature found on the ride every day this week on its blog at 11 a.m. eastern time.
