Universal Orlando Resort will hold several job fairs to hire 1,700 additional employees for its new Volcano Bay water park.
The company is also taking applications online for culinary, food services, security, lifeguards, custodial, parking and transportation, ticket sales and turnstile workers.
An open call for lifeguards will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. January 28 at Universal’s HR office. More than 400 lifeguards will be hired to work at the 30-acre water theme park.
Volcano Bay will include a multidirectional wave pool, a winding river, a combination roller coaster and aqua adventure called Krakatau Aqua Coaster and body slides that drop from the top of the centerpiece volcano, which can be seen rising above Interstate 4. It is scheduled to open this summer as a replacement for the 39-year-old Wet ‘n Wild, which closed December 31.
The Orlando Business Journal recently reported that there are rumors that Universal is planning to build a hotel on the Wet ‘n Wild property on International Drive. Universal has not released plans for the 52-acre parcel.
