Halloween Horror Nights events on both coasts this fall will have a haunted house based off “Terrifier,” the clown-starring slasher film series.
Here’s how Universal described the house coming to HHN at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood in a press release:
“During Halloween Horror Nights, guests will experience an unfathomable level of gore as they try to escape becoming Art the Clown’s next victim. ‘Terrifier’ is a grisly haunted house oozing with a new sense of terror that takes guests into Art the Clown’s gruesome Funhouse, which first appeared in ‘Terrifier 2.’ Guests will be overwhelmed by the sights, sounds, smells and dread of Art’s grotesque kills, gleefully displayed for all to see. As fans make their way through the claustrophobic corridors, they will encounter familiar faces, including Vicky and the Little Pale Girl, and witness iconic kills from the franchise. Chaos reigns at the Clown Café, terror festers in a revolting bathroom and holiday cheer turns deadly in a Christmas nightmare. Guests must escape Art’s twisted world—or become his next gruesome display.”
The “Terrifier” films date to a 2008 short called “The 9th Circle” which first featured Art the Clown, followed by another short film in 2011 and the beginning of a trilogy of full-length features in 2016. This year will make the series’ first representation at HHN.
Alongside “Terrifier,” HHN Orlando and Hollywood events will feature houses based on other existing film and TV series, such as “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” “Friday the 13th,” and “Fallout,” alongside houses centered on concepts created in-house at Universal. Nine of the 10 houses have already been revealed for the Orlando event, which starts on Aug. 29, while the Hollywood edition of HHN kicks off on Sept. 4, with five of the eight total houses now known.
