Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open on June 28 at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, Disney announced Sunday.

Members of the media have been invited to a preview of the attraction from June 9 to 11. There are also expected to be previews held for annual passholders and Disney Vacation Club members before the June 28 grand opening.

The attraction, which is the biggest addition coming to any Disney World park in 2024, is a rethemed version of Splash Mountain using the same log flume system with a new story and new animatronics. Disney has offered sneak peeks at several of those figures in recent months, including Mama Odie, Louis the Alligator and Tiana herself.

Splash Mountain closed at the Magic Kingdom in January 2023, several years after Disney announced the retheme. The goal was to further distance Disney from the 1946 film “Song of the South” that appeared to glorify the pre-Civil War South and slavery.

Disneyland is getting its own version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure later this year. No opening date has been announced for the West Coast version, but that version began construction several months after its sister attraction in the Magic Kingdom.

The weekend morning reveal came ahead of a hyped announcement on the ride on the Sunday night episode of “American Idol” on ABC. Singer and actress Jenifer Lewis, who voices Mama Odie in both the attraction and its inspiration, 2009’s “The Princess and the Frog,” will be singing a rendition of “Dig a Little Deeper” on the show.
