SeaWorld San Diego’s annual Spooktacular event returns to the park on weekends starting Sept. 17.

The family-friendly Halloween celebration includes:

  • A Halloween dance party
  • Hay maze
  • Pumpkin scavenger hunt
  • Character greetings with “friendly Halloween mermaids

The park will also have a trick-or-treat trail for children, which will require the purchase of a SeaWorld trick-or-treat bag. Kids are encouraged to dress up in Halloween costumes, but young adults 13 and older are not allowed to wear costume masks or hoods. As an extra enticement for kids, SeaWorld San Diego is offering free admission for kids ages 3 to 9 with the purchase of one adult admission.

Spooktacular will run on Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 17 through Oct. 30, with a final date being Halloween itself, which falls on a Monday this year.

The park’s adult-oriented Halloween haunt event, Howl-O-Scream, is entering its second year in 2022. It will run on select nights starting Sept. 16 through Halloween.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party only has four available dates

Speaking of Halloween events, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is close to selling out for 2022.

As first reported by Blog Mickey, only four dates of the separately-ticketed event at Magic Kingdom remain on sale: Friday, Oct. 14; Friday, Oct. 21; Sunday, Oct. 23; and Friday, Oct. 28.

Not-So-Scary wasn’t held in either 2020 or 2021. Pre-pandemic, the event would generally see some sellouts, but not as many as the 2022 edition. Whether this is due to higher demand, lower capacity, or a combination is both, Disney hasn’t made clear.

Universal files trademarks for two hotel names

Universal Orlando has space for multiple hotels around its upcoming Epic Universe theme park, and recent trademarks may reveal two possible names.

As reported by Theme Park Insider, Universal filed for trademarks this month for two hotel names: Universal’s Terra Luna Resort and Universal’s Stella Nova Resort. Both names play into the rumored space theme for the hub of Epic Universe, since “Terra Luna” means “Earth Moon” and “Stella Nova” translates to “new star.”

According to Orlando Park Stop, property around the new theme park has room for a total of six hotels.

The hotel shown at the northern edge of Epic Universe in concept art was believed to be Universal’s Helios Grand Hotel, for which Universal applied for a trademark in April 2021. However, that application was suspended in March 2022.
