Security guards at SeaWorld Orlando voted 23-10 against unionizing, the Orlando Sentinel reported Tuesday.

The guards cast ballots by mail on whether to be represented by the International Union, Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America. The union currently represents Disney World security guards, but this would have been the first union at SeaWorld.

Union president David Hickey told the Sentinel that the guards may make another attempt to unionize, as it took three attempts before Disney guards approved the union.

While Disney World’s unions have been able to negotiate on furloughs and layoffs during the COVID-19 pandemic — in some cases, saving full-timers from losing their jobs — non-union SeaWorld has laid off employees and then posted job openings for those same positions, with laid off workers having no advantage over other applicants.

The theme park chain quickly furloughed its workforce when the pandemic shut down theme parks in mid-March. Executive pay was reduced, but the same company leaders were also granted $6.8 million in stock awards.

Legoland New York shows trackless dark ride

Newly released footage offers a glimpse at the new trackless dark ride, Lego Factory Adventure, coming to the new Legoland New York.

The ride will make guests feel like they’ve shrunk down to the size of a Lego Minifig, even using new machine learning technology to render guests as Minfigs.

Legoland New York will open in 2021 in Goshen, New York, about 60 miles north of New York City.

Wolfgang Puck Express closes at Disney Springs

The Wolfgang Puck Express location at Disney Springs has permanently closed, according to Spectrum News 13

The restaurant’s last date of operation was October 1. It had closed in mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but had reopened with other parts of Disney Springs in May.

The closure of the fast-casual dining location does not affect the separate Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at Disney Springs, which remains open.
