Don’t tell Walt, but alcohol will soon be available at another location inside Disneyland.
Up until 2018, the only place to get booze inside Disneyland was in the ultra-exclusive Club 33, following Walt Disney’s early worries that alcohol would create a rowdy atmosphere similar to other amusement parks. That near-prohibition ended when Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019. Now, the Blue Bayou restaurant in New Orleans Square will also serve alcoholic beverages, according to a post on the official Disney Parks Blog.
The post mentioned that Blue Bayou will offer wine, beer, a sparkling wine package, and a Hurricane blended cocktail, a New Orleans specialty.
While Disneyland is reopening on April 30, Blue Bayou will not be open on that date. Its own reopening date has not been announced.
Disney World paying workers who miss shifts to get COVID-19 vaccine
Unite Here Local 362, which represents a variety of employees at Disney World, says Disney will pay workers for up to four hours if they have to miss part of their shift to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
In a Facebook post, the union said that until Sept. 30, as long as employees provide some advance notice of a conflicting vaccine appointment to their supervisors, they can be paid up to four hours of missed work and Disney will not record an attendance violation.
Anyone aged 40 and over is eligible for COVID-19 vaccines in Florida. Eligibility will expand to anyone 18 and older on April 5.
