If the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees go on strike, Walt Disney World will not be affected.

IATSE announced Monday that its members voted to authorize a strike if union leaders can’t reach a deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture Television Producers. With its 60,000 members, IATSE would shut down many Hollywood film and TV productions if the strike moves forward.

IATSE does represent about 2,000 Disney World cast members through Local 631. However, the contract dispute related to the strike vote is separate from the contract covering Disney World, which is in force until October 2022. Therefore, any IATSE strike would not affect the resort.

In a statement to Blog Mickey and Inside the Magic, IASTE Local 631 president Paul Cox said, “We understand the struggles of those that work in the Movie and TV industries, and will support our Sisters, Brothers, and Kin while living up to the letter, and spirt of the Contracts we are party to.

Disneyland to open year-round holiday shop on Main Street

The former Main Street Photo Supply Co. shop at the end of Disneyland’s Main Street U.S.A. will become a new holiday store called Plaza Point, Disney announced Monday.

In a video posted on the official Disney Parks Blog, Disneyland Resort enhancement manager Dawn Pipal Keehne said the shop will be rotating overlays of holidays, while keeping Christmas merchandise available year-round. “It’ll be holiday all year, but it will transition,” Keehne said. “We are planning to have a Lunar New Year overlay, we are planning to have a Halloween overlay, and then the special piece just for Christmas.”

No opening date has been announced for the new shop.

The Orange County Register reported that photo supplies and PhotoPass services formerly offered at the location will be relocated to a booth just outside Disneyland’s front entrance.

Legoland New York kicks off first Brick or Treat event

The Halloween staple of Legoland parks, Brick or Treat, is now offered at the newest park in the chain.

Legoland New York began its first edition of the seasonal event this past weekend. Each of the park’s seven lands will feature Halloween decor, special kids’ entertainment, costume contests and candy stations.

“Like all our rides and attractions, Brick-or-Treat is built for kids ages two through 12. Instead of big scares, we want families to enjoy a safe, fun, and memorable Halloween holiday,” Legoland New York Resort divisional director Stephanie Johnson said in a press release.

The event will run on Saturdays and Sundays in October from 3 to 6 p.m. All the event’s offerings are included in the price of regular admission to Legoland New York.
