Legoland Florida Resort is now a Certified Autism Center, meaning employees have completed extra training on autism sensitivity and awareness and extra resources are available to autistic guests and their families

Awarded by the Jacksonville-based International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), the designation was first given to the new Peppa Pig Theme Park Florida. Legoland representatives said at last November’s IAAPA Expo that it planned on achieving the same certification at the existing Legoland park, hotels and water park.

“IBCCES is thrilled to partner with Legoland Florida Resort to help them enhance the guest experience in this unique setting that provides a comprehensive experience for families to stay and play together,” Myron Pincomb, IBCCES chairman, said in a press release. “Their commitment to ongoing training and accessibility enhancements helps ensure there are more options for families to make memories together that we all cherish.”

Legoland Florida guests can take advantage of a new sensory guide for every attraction as well as a low-sensory area that allows guests with sensory sensitivities to take a break from the stimulation.

Legoland is the first theme park resort to earn the designation, though individual parks in Central Florida have done so. SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica Orlando and Discovery Cove were all given the “certified autism center” distinction in 2019.

Universal Orlando bookings ‘historically high’ amid pandemic recovery

The Universal parks division within Comcast posted a 150 percent increase in year-over-year revenue for the first three months of 2022, even with international visitors still lagging behind pre-COVID-19 trends.

Comcast CEO Brian Roberts said on a Thursday earnings call that Universal Orlando generated its highest earnings for a first quarter in the resort’s history. “”Our theme parks are performing great and with that, international visitation at our domestic parks is less than half of what it would normally be this time of the year,” he said.

That’s not stopping advance bookings for the summer being at “historically high levels” at Universal Orlando and Hollywood, Roberts said.

Six Flags Magic Mountain renaming ride for Teen Titans

With Wonder Woman now getting her own coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain, the park’s existing Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth spinner ride needed a new moniker.

Enter the Teen Titans.

The Super Round-Up attraction — which has operated at Magic Mountain under four different names dating back to 1974 — will now be called Teen Titans Turbo Spin.

The name change is part of a larger overhaul of the park’s DC Universe area, including a new entrance. No opening date has yet been announced for Wonder Woman Flight of Courage or the revamped land.
