Disneyland unions want a plan for regularly testing employees for COVID-19 before reopening the resort's two theme parks.
Disneyland's home of Orange County, California has seen an increased number of COVID-19 hospitalizations since Memorial Day.
Disneyland unions wrote to California Gov. Gavin Newsom, saying they're not convinced the resort can be operated safely for a July 17 reopening.
Under this plan, the resort’s theme parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure would reopen on July 17 — Disneyland’s 65th birthday.
The closure was originally scheduled to end on April 1, but the growing scale of the pandemic and Orange County's stay-at-home order made that impossible.
Addressing one of the major concerns of closing the resort, Disney said it will continue to pay its employees while the parks are shut down.
