Quantum Accelerator at Six Flags New England will open on April 17, the park announced Thursday.
This Intamin-built, steampunk-themed family launch roller coaster was originally scheduled to open last June, with the Massachusetts park even setting a date for a media preview. The coaster was suddenly delayed to a 2026 opening without an official explanation. However, other Intamin coasters with straddled vehicles in SeaWorld and Busch Gardens also closed for an extended period around the same time.
Whatever the reason for the delay, Quantum Accelerator will be able to welcome guests starting with a passholder preview on April 11-12 before its public debut on April 17. The coaster hits a top speed of 45 miles per hour through its 2,600 feet of track.
Six Flags New England Park Manager Bill Falzone said in a press release, “We’re proud to add this coaster to our attraction lineup as it represents our park’s commitment to delivering unmatched thrills, immersive entertainment and lifelong memories.”
Quantum Accelerator is the park’s first new coaster addition in nine years. It also restores the park’s coaster count to 12, having lost a ride with the closure of Goliath after the 2019 season.
