A family-friendly launch roller coaster, Quantum Accelerator, will be opening at Six Flags New England next year.

The Agawam, Massachusetts park revealed the coaster Thursday. Guests will straddle steampunk-themed hoverbikes as multiple launches send them winding around 2,600 feet track at a top speed of 45 mph.

The coaster will stay low to the ground — its maximum height is just 59 feet — and will not feature any inversions, but 11 “airtime moments,” according to a park press release.

Six Flags New England park president Pete Carmichael said in a statement, “With its dual-launch system and unique straddle seat design, this coaster is set to become a favorite for guests of all ages. It perfectly complements our extensive lineup of world-class rides and attractions, making Six Flags New England the ultimate destination for family fun and excitement in 2025.”

Liechtenstein-based coaster firm Intamin is the ride’s manufacturer. While the company is most recognized as the manufacturer behind several of Universal Orlando’s recent coasters, it was also made other family coasters using straddled vehicles and tire-propelled launches, such as DarKoaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Wave Breaker at SeaWorld San Antonio.

The new coaster is being built on the former site of Goliath, the Vekoma Giant Inverted Boomerang which last operated in 2019, and will restore the park’s coaster count to 12.

The Quantum Accelerator layout had first been reported by ParkFans.net last month.
