Land has been cleared for Six Flags Great America’s next major attraction, the 172-foot-tall Sky Striker

The Gurnee, Illinois park released photos of the ride’s future home in a Facebook post.

Past visitors to the park may recognize this space as the former home of Dare Devil Dive, an upcharge Skycoaster that operated from 1997 to 2022 next to the queue for the American Eagle roller coaster.

Sky Striker is a Giant Discovery pendulum ride built by Zamperla. The same model already operates at Six Flags Magic Mountain as CraZanity and is being added to Six Flags St. Louis under the name The Joker: Carnival of Chaos. The ride will be Six Flags Great America’s first new ride in five years.

The park ended its 2023 season last month by saying goodbye to two flat rides: Mardi Gras Hangover, a Larson Loop attraction in the Mardi Gras section which debuted in 2018, and Revolution, a Huss Frisbee that opened in 2004 that became expendable with a much taller pendulum ride in Sky Striker being installed.
