Six Flags Great Adventure is opening a new section to the park later this spring, featuring four rides relocated from Six Flags America.
Shoreline Pier at The Boardwalk, the area is a homage to New Jersey’s oceanside boardwalk amusement parks.
The Jackson, New Jersey park teased the new area last week by showing off in-progress construction and a single piece of blue roller coaster track. Multiple sources correctly reported that the coaster piece belonged to the former Ragin’ Cajun, a spinning Wild Mouse coaster which last operated at Six Flags America before that Maryland park was shuttered in 2025.
Ragin’ Cajun is joining three other flat rides transplanted from Six Flags America. Here’s the full list along with their new names:
- Ragin’ Cajun roller coaster will be named Barrels O’ Fun
- Steamwhirler, a NebulaZ ride, will become Hypno Twister
- Flying Carousel will be rechristened as Wave Swinger
- French Quarter Flyers will now be called Flying Scooters
A fifth ride in Shoreline Pier will be the park’s Round-Up spinner, formerly known as Swashbuckler and now named Super Roundup.
Six Flags Great Adventure Park Manager Michael Fehnel said in a statement, “This new area blends the alluring vibe of shore towns with classic midway fun, creating a destination that feels both nostalgic and brand-new.”
The new section will also offer food items with a distinct New Jersey flair, including disco fires topped with mozzarella and gravy, a cannoli-flavored funnel cake and what the park is calling “Gabagool On-a-Stick” — capicola that’s been dipped in corn batter and drizzled with hot honey.
Shoreline Pier is still under construction, but Great Adventure will begin its 2026 season Friday with a season passholder preview night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
