Sesame Place San Diego will operate only on a seasonal basis, a sudden change that is going into effect with only six days’ notice.

In a Monday night Instagram post announcing the move to a seasonal schedule, the Chula Vista, California park announced its 2025 season would end this Sunday, Sept. 21.

The park will reopen in the spring of 2026.

The abrupt change means SeaWorld has to compensate customers who purchased season passes with the expectation that Sesame Place would be open year-round. Those guests will get a SeaWorld San Diego “Fun Card,” offering admission to that sister park roughly 22 miles away for the rest of 2025.

Sesame Place San Diego opened in March 2022 with a combination of new Sesame Street rides and existing water rides left from its former identity as the Aquatica San Diego water park.
