Expedition Odyssey, an Arctic-themed flying theater ride, will open at SeaWorld Orlando on May 1.
In SeaWorld’s Friday morning press release, it described the new ride like this:
The Expedition Odyssey experience is a next-generation ride system featuring unprecedented range of motion, bringing fluidity and realism to every twist, dive and glide. Exclusive, custom-shot video footage captured in remote Arctic locations offers unmatched authenticity, immersing guests in breathtaking encounters with iconic animals such as polar bears, orcas, beluga whales, seals, walruses and much more.
As Theme Park Tribune mentioned when we named Expedition Odyssey one of the 10 biggest new theme park rides of 2025, the attraction is using a flying theater ride system from Mack Rides called Airific, featuring three levels of seating which rotate to face a spherical screen.
It’s also the first significant attraction added to SeaWorld Orlando in several years that wasn’t a roller coaster. Since the opening of Sesame Street Land in May 2019, SeaWorld has added Ice Breaker in 2022 (delayed from 2020) and Pipeline in 2023.
