The classic manga and anime franchise “Sailor Moon” will be a part of this year’s Fan Fest Nights event at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Fan Fest Nights is Universal’s attempt to build a second seasonal after-hours event for the spring, functioning like a Halloween Horror Nights, only without the horror. It also takes some cues from Universal Studios Japan’s seasonal Cool Japan event, which is where this “Sailor “Moon addition originated.

A short computer-animated film, “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: Moon Palace Chapter Deluxe,” will be playing at Universal Hollywood’s DreamWorks Theatre during Fan Fest Nights. Universal said the subtitled film features “heroine Super Sailor Moon as she battles an unforeseen enemy with sinister motives to acquire the Legendary Silver Crystal from Moon Palace’s enchanting ball. With her unwavering spirit, accompanied by audience support, Super Sailor Moon will prove good indeed prevails over evil as she outwits her rival and restores tranquility to the Moon Palace.”

Manga and anime franchises were already a part of the first Fan Fest Nights in 2025, including a “Jujutsu Kaisen” short film that was similarly exported from Cool Japan and a meet-and-greet with “One Piece” characters. “One Piece” will have a bigger presence this year with a live show taking over the Waterworld Theatre called “One Piece: Grand Pirate Show.”

Fan Fest Nights will also feature a new Forbidden Forest-themed walkthrough attraction in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and a return of last year’s Dungeons & Dragons: Secrets of Waterdeep walkthrough. Universal Hollywood’s backlot, which last year offered a “Back to the Future” experience for Fan Fest Nights, will this year play host to a mash-up of Scooby-Doo and Universal’s classic movie monsters into a new “walkthrough adventure” on film locations once used for those monster movies, including 1931’s “Frankenstein.”

The 2026 edition Universal Fan Fest Nights runs on select nights at Universal Studios Hollywood from April 23 through May 16 at Universal Hollywood. Like Halloween Horror Nights, the event requires a separate ticket.
