Disney’s All-Star Sports has long been considered the bottom of the barrel for Disney World resorts.
This lowly stature may have been a combination of two factors. First, its theme being seen as less desirable than the nearby All-Star Movies and All-Star Music (which are already a step below the newer Pop Century and Art of Animation resorts). And second, until recently, All-Star Sports still featured the same room design and decor as when the hotel opened in 1994.

Several decades of Florida humidity and sweaty theme park feet had not been kind to those carpets. While the other value resorts began extensive room refurbishments before the pandemic, All-Star Sports was last in line, actually staying closed for more than two years before welcoming back guests in March 2022.
My May 2023 stay was in one of the Surf’s Up buildings featuring the same room design and layout as Pop Century and the other two All-Stars. But was the upgrade worth the $177 I paid for a single night? Find out more in my video room tour and review:
