The CEO of the Walt Disney World Company revealed Tuesday that Pandora: The World of Avatar will open May 27 and hinted that ticket prices would be going up.
The announcement was made during the company’s quarterly earnings report.
Pandora – The World of Avatar will be in the southwest portion of Animal Kingdom. It is expected to increase attendance and make Animal Kingdom a full day adventure.
Critics have complained that the attraction is based on the Avatar film series, the last of which was released eight years ago. However, a sequel is expected in 2018.
“We really believe in the coming years that the interest in Avatar will only increase,” said Disney CEO Robert Iger. “We think it has big potential.”
When asked if the new attraction would bring higher admission prices, Iger said that Disney increases its ticket prices annually, but he was not ready to comment on the amount.
The 12-acre Pandora attraction will include floating mountains, alien wildlife, and bioluminescent plants.
