Kings Island has installed the first piece of track for its new-for-2024 roller coaster, Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers.

The new coaster — the 15th in the Mason, Ohio park’s lineup — is 672 feet long and 75 feet tall, hitting a top speed of 37 miles per hour. It’s one of two U.S. installations of Vekoma’s Family Boomerang model coming this year, alongside Good Gravy at Holiday World.

The construction progress update also included a view of the coaster’s lookout station, from which the character Franklin will be stationed as the announcer for the racing derby-themed ride.

Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers is the centerpiece of a new Camp Snoopy kids area, which will include a nature-themed play area and several renamed attractions from the existing Planet Snoopy.

Soarin’ Over California departing Epcot next week

Soarin’ at Epcot will say goodbye to its classic Soarin’ Over California ride film on Tuesday, Feb. 27, reverting to the usual Soarin’ Around the World film the following day.

The older ride film had returned last fall as part of the Disney100 promotion celebrating the Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary. Nexstar reporter Scott Gustin said in a Feb. 21 post on X that Soarin’ Around the World will return without any changes or updates.

For fans of the Soarin Over California version, you can head to Disney California Adventure, where the older ride film will return from March 1 through April 22 as part of the DCA Food & Wine Festival.
