The Antarctica section of SeaWorld Orlando will welcome back guests on May 25, but without its new roller coaster.

Attractions Magazine first reported on the area’s reopening. The land will include a “revamped Expedition Cafe,” a new store called Glacial Supply and a new drink stand with themed drinks called South Pole Sips.

The land (once called Sea of Ice) was previously anchored by Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin, the first trackless dark ride in Orlando, which operated from 2013 until being shut down at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. That ride’s footprint is being partially taken over by a new family roller coaster, Penguin Trek, which “will open soon,” according to SeaWorld, but not on May 25.

While Penguin Trek has been seen testing in the past month, SeaWorld has subtly changed its opening time frame to “2024” from “spring 2024.”

Disneyland performers vote to unionize

The majority of costumed character actors and parade performers at Disneyland voted in favor joining the Actors’ Equity Association union over the weekend.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the “yes” vote won 953 to 258. Actors’ Equity Association president Kate Shindle said in a statement on Saturday, ““The next step will be to collaborate with them about improving health & safety, wages, benefits, working conditions and job security. After that we will meet with representatives of the Walt Disney Company to negotiate those priorities into a first contract.”

The union already represents stage performers at Disney parks and in Disney’s theatrical productions on Broadway and national tours. If the union election results are certified, a total of 1,700 Disneyland employees would be represented under an Equity union called Magic United.

Universal Orlando announces its second haunted house for HHN 2024

Just days after announcing the first haunted house for this fall’s Halloween Horror Nights, Universal Orlando has revealed its second: Goblin’s Feast.

Another original creation from Universal Creative, it would appear the “feast” is actually the guests themselves:

Goblin’s Feast joins another original house in the HHN lineup, Slaughter Sinema 2, as the only two reveals so far.
