Camp Snoopy at Knott’s Berry Farm is getting a new kid-friendly roller coaster and several other changes and upgrades in 2024.

“Experiencing first rides and first theme park moments as a family, is what Knott’s is all about,” Jon Storbeck, Knott’s Berry Farm vice president and general manager, said in a press release. “Our newly reimagined Camp Snoopy will allow parents and kids to ride and play together and be truly immersed in a summer camp experience right alongside the entire Peanuts Gang.”

The highlight of the overhaul — which will open on Memorial Day weekend in 2024 — will be a new kiddie roller coaster called Snoopy’s Tenderpaw Twister Coaster. The Knott’s Berry Farm press release said the new ride “takes parents and kids up a lift hill and delivers a pint-sized launch.”

While Knott’s did not mention a manufacturer, it appears that the coaster is a Lift & Launch model built by Italian coaster firm Zamperla. The same model is currently operating as Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster at Peppa Pig Theme Park Florida.

Camp Snoopy will also be getting a second brand-new attraction, a swing ride called Sally’s Swing Along, along with a new theater space that will include a large fire pit that will be lit at night for “special campfire entertainment.”

The Barrell Bridge and waterfall area of the land will also be getting a new terrace area for parents to see their kids explore the play space below.

The rest of the overhaul includes enhancements to existing rides and areas of Camp Snoopy. Rocky Mountain Trucking Company, a tracked ride in kid-sized big rig trucks, will be turned into Camp Snoopy’s Off-Road Rally, with the cars now themed to Peanuts characters. The Grand Sierra Railroad train ride will also be renamed, becoming the Beagle Express, and feature new scenery and figures.

Knott’s had telegraphed some of these changes by removing Camp Snoopy’s original coaster, Timberline Twister, earlier this year. The Orange County Register has reported that two other rides that opened with the land in 1983 will be removed as part of the overhaul: the High Sierra Ferris Wheel and Camp Bus magic carpet ride.

The kiddie drop tower ride Woodstock’s Airmail will be moved to a new location within Camp Snoopy.

The 2024 announcements from Knott’s Berry Farm come as several of the park’s promised enhancements for 2023 remain uncompleted. A major renovation on the Montezooma’s Revenge roller coaster remains on hold. Work is also ongoing on the renovation of the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel, which the park says should be complete by early 2024.
