The Legoland Florida Resort will be adding another on-site hotel, the third for its Winter Haven property, though details are scarce when it comes to its exact theme or an opening date.

The announcement was during Legoland’s presentation at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Expo.

“Most of the details are still top secret,” said Brittany Williams, senior public relations manager for Legoland Florida. “It’s in a great location, and it will be designed and brought to life with all of those creative, hands-on, immersive experiences that you’ve come to expect from a Legoland resort.”

While Legoland told Orlando Rising that there’s no exact timeline for when the new hotel will open, it did reveal that it would be housed in a five-story building and contain 150 rooms, nearly identical to the five-story, 152-room Legoland Florida Hotel. The two hotels will be connected, Williams said, placing the new accommodations close to the park entrance.

The resort also encompasses the Legoland Beach Retreat, which contains 83 bungalows and 166 guest rooms.

Expanding into a third on-site resort would make Legoland Florida unique within the larger chain owned by Merlin Entertainments. Other Legoland parks commonly have a main Legoland Hotel, while Legoland California added a second, castle-themed on-site hotel in 2018.

Despite the additional rooms the new hotel would add, Legoland would be still far behind its older rivals in the Orlando market in terms of guest capacity.

Disney World is estimated to have more than 35,000 guest rooms on its property, including the hotels owned by other chains in the Disney Springs area. Universal has more than 6,000 after the opening of the Aventura Hotel earlier this year and will add another 2,800 rooms when the Endless Summer Resort is fully open in 2020.

Legoland Florida will open a major expansion inside the park in early spring 2019 with Lego Movie World. The land will feature three new rides: Unikitty Disco Drop, Battle of Bricksburg and the Lego Movie Masters of Flight flying theater attraction.
