‘Killer Klowns’ house coming to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights 2019

“Killer Klowns from Outer Space” just got a promotion from Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights.

After the cult horror film was the basis for a scare zone during last year’s HHN, it’s returning for the 2019 edition as a full-fledged haunted house. Just like the movie, the house will focus on the evil alien invaders — who all look like nightmarish circus clowns — taking over the small town of Crescent Cove.

“Guests will be lured by the sweet smell of cotton candy and ice-cream and find themselves in an otherworldly circus tent where they’ll come face-to-face with the crazed klowns and their sinister, side-splitting antics,” Universal said in a press release. “As they make their way through the Big Top Space Ship, guests will witness diabolical klowns making cotton candy cocoons from unsuspecting victims and will realize the joke’s on them as they are next to become the gooey snack.”

A “Killer Klowns” house was widely expected by sites that predict the HHN lineup like Horror Night Nightmares. Not only does the house fit with this year’s 1980s theme, but Universal has a history of turning popular scare zones from one HHN into houses for the next event, as was the case with “Trick ‘R Treat.”

Universal still has three houses — and all the scare zones— left to announce for the 2019 edition of Halloween Horror Nights. Other houses will be based around the Netflix series “Stranger Things” as well as a “Ghostbusters” maze, marking the franchise’s 35th anniversary.

This year’s event will be the longest ever, running 41 nights from Sept. 6 through Nov. 2 at Universal Studios Florida.
