Cruise lines have canceled sailings and brought several Florida-based ships back to port as Hurricane Irma heads toward the state.
The cancellations come as the ferocious storm threatens key shipping channels near ports in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Port Canaveral.
Disney Cruise Line canceled Saturday’s sailing of the Fantasy and the Friday and Monday sailings of the Disney Dream. Both ships are based in Port Canaveral.
Carnival held Thursday’s departure of the Carnival Liberty and Friday’s departure of the Carnival Victory. The ships are based in Port Canaveral and Miami, respectively, and were scheduled to sail to The Bahamas.
Royal Caribbean canceled Friday sailings to The Bahamas aboard Majesty of the Seas and the Enchantment of the Seas. The vessels are based in Port Canaveral, Fla., and Miami, respectively.
Norwegian Cruise Line has canceled Friday’s departure of the Norwegian Sky and Saturday’s departure of the Norwegian Escape. Both ships leave from Miami.
Several cruise lines are bringing Florida-based vessels that were headed to Caribbean and Bahamas voyages home early.
Vessels heading back to Florida ports ahead of schedule include Norwegian Sky, Norwegian Escape, Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream.
