Holy Land Experience will offer free admission January 25 to preserve its tax-exempt status as a religious entity.

The date, which changes every year, was announced on the theme park’s Twitter account and website.

The park’s 2000-person capacity is often reached early in the day, so people planning to attend should arrive early.

The park will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors will save on the admission price of $50 for adults 13 years old and older; $35 for ages 6-12; and $20 for guests ages 2-5.

Holy Land Experience, which opened in 2002, is a non-denominational Christian theme park that offers shows and presentations based on the Bible.

The park began offering the free day after a four-year legal battle with the Orange County Property Appraiser over unpaid taxes. The county argued that Holy Land Experience is a theme park, while the park countered it is a religious entity offering church services and a biblical museum.

State legislators passed a law in 2006 granting a tax exemption for theme parks that display, exhibit, illustrate and interpret biblical manuscripts. The law requires the park to offer an annual free admission day.
