The demise of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina’s Funplex turned into a shopping spree for the Fun Spot America parks, which are adding five of the defunct Funplex’s rides to its lineup.

Having originally open in May 2021, Funplex last operated in mid-September before announcing its permanent closure on Oct. 30, according to The Sun News. A week later, Amusement Today reported that Fun Spot America had acquired five former Funplex attractions through Rides 4 U, a New Jersey-based company which sells new and used amusement park supplies and rides.

Fun Spot confirmed where the five rides would be going in a Nov. 12 press release. Fun Spot’s Kissimmee location will get two rides: Up and Overboard, a 60-foot-tall inverted pendulum ride, and a kiddie swinging attraction called Swing Around.

Fun Spot Orlando will also get two rides: a new Tea Cups spinner, replacing the park’s existing version, and Mach Fun, a 50-foot-tall tower ride where guests can spin around 360 degrees in miniature jets.

“We’re always looking for ways to keep our parks fresh and exciting for our guests,” John Arie Jr., CEO of Fun Spot America. “Adding these rides is a great way for us to continue to offer new, unique and memorable experiences.”
