Combining a photo op with a Lego build and virtual racing, the new Lego Ferrari “Build and Race” attraction will open at Legoland California in spring 2022.
The interactive experience includes three parts:
- A photo op inside a “life-size Ferrari F40 model developed by the Lego Group,” according to a Legoland California press release
- Guests building their own Lego Ferrari car
- Racing those cars at one of three tracks, and then scanning their creations digitally for a projected race on a Lego track based on Pista di Fiorano, Ferrari’s private test track
“Ferrari is renowned for manufacturing cars unique in terms of performance, innovation and design, setting the standard for luxury and excellence within the automotive world,” Legoland California Resort president Kurt Stocks said in a statement. “We have millions of young guests who can be inspired from this to create their own unique cars in this one-of-a-kind testing and racing facility.”
Annabel Rochfort, Ferrari’s director of location-based entertainment, said, “The Build and Race experience has been designed to engage with both Ferrari and LEGO lovers of all ages, aligning with Ferrari’s strategy to reach out to its younger fans.”
The experience will not require any additional charge when it opens next spring.
Legoland California last expanded earlier this year with Lego Movie World. The two-acre land and its three attractions debuted following the park’s yearlong COVID-19 shutdown,
