Waldameer will be opening a 1,885-foot-long family launch coaster in the summer of 2027.

The Erie, Pennsylvania park announced the addition Monday. The new ride, dubbed Eagle’s Pursuit, will be built into a hillside and sport two launches, a 60-foot elevation change and a top speed of 46 mph.

Waldameer CEO Steve Gorman said in a press release: “Eagle’s Pursuit captures everything guests love about Waldameer — family thrills, beautiful natural scenery, and unforgettable experiences. From the moment riders launch out of the station and soar over the hillside, this coaster delivers the feeling of flying like a powerful eagle in pursuit.”

The coaster will be built by Vekoma, the Dutch coaster firm behind rides ranging from Siren’s Curse at Cedar Point to other family coasters like Big Bear Mountain at Dollywood.

Eagle’s Pursuit will be Vekoma’s first coaster project at Waldameer and the park’s sixth coaster overall. The last addition came in 2020 with the SBF Visa spinning coaster Whirlwind.
