Walt Disney World Resort will begin offering Uber-style rides from a fleet of Minnie Mouse inspired vehicles that will take guests anywhere in the resort.
The red and white polka dot vehicles will be rolled out by the end of the month.
Guests staying at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort and Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts will be able to arrange their own private ride from their smartphones. Once the transportation is requested, a seven-passenger Minnie van driven by a Disney cast member will arrive and drive them to any destination in the resort.
“Since we’re all about exceeding guest expectations and making every aspect of your vacation uniquely Disney, we’re creating a new point-to-point transportation service in a way that only Disney can do,” said Disney Chairman Bob Chapek, who announced the new Minnie ride service during the D23 Expo last weekend.
Prices have yet to be released.
The Minnie-themed vans were one of two new transportation options unveiled during the 2017 D23 fan event. A gondola-style ride will also be coming to the Orlando theme park. The alternatives are needed to alleviate long lines for the park’s monorail and bus systems.
Disney Skyliner will give guests a bird’s eye view of Walt Disney World. It will connect Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century and Caribbean Beach resorts with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot. Many of the gondolas will feature Disney characters.
