Haunted Mansion’s seasonal overlay at Disneyland will close on Jan. 21, 2024, but the original attraction won’t be returning a few weeks later as usual.
Typically, when the “Nightmare Before Christmas”-themed Haunted Mansion Holiday ends its run, it takes 10 to 14 days for the classic Haunted Mansion ride to be back in operation.
In 2024, however, the closure marks the beginning of a larger construction project, announced back in August, to add a larger outdoor queue space, a permanent gift shop and a new elevator exit for guests with disabilities.
Disney has not yet set a timeline for how long those additions will take. WDW News Today is reporting an unsourced rumor that the Haunted Mansion will stay closed until 2025, but readers should keep in mind that multiple rumors reported by the site in the past have either been forcefully denied by Disney or never came to fruition.
The temporary loss of Haunted Mansion increases the dead space (no pun intended) around New Orleans Square and Critter Country in Disneyland.
Neighboring ride Splash Mountain closed earlier this year to begin its transformation into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, themed around the 2009 film “The Princess and the Frog.” That overhaul is scheduled to open in late 2024.
