The reopening of Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland is being pushed back 11 days to March 19.
Disneyland said in a statement that heavy rainfall across Southern California last month was to blame for the delay from the previously-announced March 8 date. The park said, “Due to heavy winter storms that impacted our construction momentum, we are adjusting the reopening date of Mickey’s Toontown to March 19. We can’t wait for our guests to visit and experience the reimagined.”
Those same winter storms had caused early closures of Disneyland on some days. Other theme parks like Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain stayed completely closed on certain dates due to weather.
A portion of Mickey’s Toontown is open thanks to the recent opening of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway, the West Coast version of the trackless dark ride that debuted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in March 2020.
The entire land closed on March 9, 2022 for an overhaul that will include new play areas and a revamped kiddie coaster, now renamed Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Gadgetcoaster.
