Walt Disney World will be building a new Disney Vacation Club resort on the site of the former River Country water park. Just not precisely the one it initially announced.

This same site was supposed to be home to the 900-room Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge by 2022, adding a new resort to the Magic Kingdom area and additional capacity for DVC timeshares near the world’s most-visited theme park. However, that hotel project was quietly sidelined during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Disney’s Experiences division announced Tuesday that the project is active again, now set to open in 2027 under a new name: Disney Lakeshore Lodge.

NEW: Disney Vacation Club says Disney Lakeshore Lodge will open in 2027 within the same footprint of the previously announced Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge resort.

Blog Mickey reported that vertical construction has already begun on the site, with cranes clearly visible to anyone traversing Bay Lake by boat.
