Among the theme park faithful seeking solace during the coronavirus pandemic, their most common question is: When can I go back to Disney World?

There is no answer to that question, as Disney has said the resort is closed “until further notice.” For those who can’t help but speculate, an updated booking policy on the Disney World website offers one possibility.

When Disney initially announced a closure only through the end of March, hotel and dining reservations could still be made for April 1 and beyond up until Disney extended the closure on March 27.

It cannot be emphasized enough that this is not proof that Disney World will reopen in June. Beyond all the unknowns surrounding when the pandemic will peak in the U.S., and the risk of a second wave of COVID-19 cases, the decision is not entirely up to Disney. Orange County’s current stay-at-home order would have prevented the theme parks from opening any earlier than April 9, and further government action at the local or state level may determine when Disney World welcomes back guests.

Legoland Florida extends COVID-19 closure, but one of its hotel remains open

Like other Central Florida theme parks, Legoland Florida is extending its closure as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, this time through April 14.

This is an earlier date than any other resorts have announced. Universal Orlando extended its closure through April 19, while others, including parks in the SeaWorld and Fun Spot America chains, have not given a specific date.

Legoland Hotel, located just outside the park’s entrance, is still operating “at a low-occupancy level, within government guidelines, and we continue to give special care to room assignments and dining options to ensure reasonable separation of families,” the company said.

The extended closure will delay the opening of the resort’s third on-site hotel, the Pirate Island Hotel, which now scheduled for May 15. Legoland also said it will reschedule the opening dates of its new ski show and the PirateFest Weekends events.

Like Universal Orlando, Legoland is also suspending monthly payments starting April 1 for its annual passholders who chose that payment option.
