Less than three weeks before the event begins, Universal Orlando has unveiled the complete lineup for Halloween Horror Nights 31.
In a break from recent years, the 2022 event will feature more haunted houses based on original Universal concepts than on established intellectual properties. The six newly-announced original houses are:
- Spirits of the Coven
- Bugs: Eaten Alive
- Fiesta de Chupacabras
- Hellblock Horror
- Dead Man’s Pier: Winter’s Wake
- Descendants of Destruction
These six join the four previously announced IP houses: Halloween, Universal Monsters: Legends Collide, The Horrors of Blumhouse and The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare.
Keeping with the emphasis on original concepts, all five scare zones revealed Tuesday are also Universal creations:
- Horrors of Halloween
- Scarecrow: Cursed Soil
- Sweet Revenge
- Graveyard: Deadly Unrest
- Conjure the Dark
HHN 31 will also feature both a new stage show, “Halloween Nightmare Fuel Wildfire,” a sequel to last year’s “Halloween Nightmare Fuel” starring the Fuel Girls troupe. The Universal Studios Florida lagoon will play host to another HHN water projection show, “Ghoulish! A Halloween Tale.” Universal described the show in a press release as following “the Grim Reaper on the undertaking of what happens beyond the grave – all set to eerily-remixed music by some of today’s most iconic artists.”
As expected, the event will also include a HHN Tribute Store in the New York section of the park. Rooms in the store will be themed after a pumpkin patch, witch’s cottage and a cemetery, with the final room being set in a Halloween festival set in the same town as the store’s neighboring Sweet Revenge scare zone.
Halloween Horror Nights 31 will kick off on Sept. 2 and run on select nights at Universal Studios Florida through Halloween.
