Central Florida is home to seven of the top 10 amusement parks and the three best water parks in the country, according to user reviews on TripAdvisor.
For the third year in a row, Universal’s Islands of Adventure was chosen as the world’s best amusement park.
TripAdvisor announced the winners of its 2017 Travelers’ Choice awards Thursday. The travel site uses an algorithm of its user reviews to rate amusement and water parks in the two categories: United States and the world.
Islands of Adventure also topped the national list, followed by Discovery Cove, Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles, Universal Studios Orlando, Epcot, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and SeaWorld Orlando. Disney California Adventure Park and Disneyland, both in Anaheim, Calif. round out the top 10.
Six Central Florida amusement parks made the world list. Discovery Cove placed second behind Islands of Adventure, Magic Kingdom was fourth, Universal Orlando eighth, Epcot ninth and Animal Kingdom tenth.
Central Florida water parks garnered the top three spots nationally. Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon led the pack, followed by SeaWorld’s Aquatica and Disney’s Blizzard Beach. Typhoon Lagoon and Aquatica also placed on the world’s best list, at sixth and ninth, respectively.
“The Travelers’ Choice award-winning parks deliver thrill-filled excitement and splashy entertainment for those travelers seeking ideas for where to go for summer fun,” said Brooke Ferencsik, senior director of communications for TripAdvisor.
