Mattel Adventure Park in Glendale, Arizona is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2024, the park said in response to an earlier report that its debut had been delayed for another year.

The 2025 opening date came from Theme Park Insider, which took part in a press tour of the construction site on Thursday. However, park spokesperson Jenn Joseph told Theme Park Tribune that the 2025 date was “inaccurate.”

Theme Park Insider later corrected its story and said the Arizona park would have a “soft” opening before the end of 2024, with the “grand” opening next year.

As Theme Park Tribune has previously covered, the park was originally announced in 2021 with a 2022 opening date, which was then pushed back to 2023 and, as recently as last August, was set for 2024.

Despite the delays, there is clear evidence that construction is proceeding. Most visibly, the Hot Wheels Twin Mill Racer coaster has been seen rising out of the desert.

Hot Wheels Twin Mill Racer will be the second-ever Hyper GT-X coaster model built by Chance Rides (the other being Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom) and will feature three inversions, the most of any coaster in Arizona.

The rest of the park’s lineup doesn’t appear to have changed. Mattel brands will be feature in attractions such as a Barbie Beach House with a rooftop bar, a hologram-driven “Barbie Dream Closet Experience,” a Thomas the Tank Engine-themed kids land, and second Hot Wheels coaster called Bone Shaker: The Ultimate Ride.

Editor’s Note: This story initially stated that Mattel Adventure Park’s opening had been delayed to 2025, based on a report from Theme Park Insider. Mattel Adventure Park stated that the report was inaccurate and the park would open in late 2024, and the story has been updated to reflect this.
